Maintaining DOI Compliance Nepal means you must formally update your Industrial License whenever your business changes what it produces or sells. This process is necessary to keep your raw material quotas, tax benefits, and legal permission to operate valid under the Department of Industry.

Under the Industrial Enterprises Act, 2076, industrial objectives are the legal boundaries of your business. They determine your tax rates, import permissions, and production limits. When you start a new activity or stop an old one, you must update your registration to ensure every product you make is legally authorized by the government.
According to Section 12 of the Industrial Enterprises Act, 2076, industries must get approval before adding or changing their business goals. This is vital because a new objective might change your industry’s entire category—for example, shifting from a “Service Industry” to a “Manufacturing Industry.” In such cases, the law requires a full update of your industrial records and project reports to match your new business model.
If you fail to register these changes, you face penalties under Section 43 for “Unauthorized Production.” Producing items not listed on your certificate can lead to the seizure of your goods and the loss of all tax incentives. Additionally, you will be unable to import raw materials at discounted customs rates because the Department of Customs only allows imports for products explicitly listed on your approved Industrial License.
